So, it's been a solid two months since I've written anything here. Why? Not sure. Well, there was travel involved. And a LOT of shows to play. But I really should have kept up with this. I like writing, but I'm still not sure it's something I would do regularly.
Well, what happened? First of all, SXSW in mid-March. This year, I didn't play very much....only the Saustex showcase on Wednesday night (Hickoids) and two sets at the 04 Lounge on Saturday for the Whoopsy! Party (Hickoids and Pocket FishRmen). It was nice to have Thursday and Friday off to just go watch other folks, although oddly...with the obvious exception of my friends Light Screamer from Sweden....I only watched local folks. People I could see any old time for the most part. How's that for un-adventurousness??
Almost immediately after that, the Hickoids went to Europe. We were there for around twelve days, playing ten shows in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Belgium and England. We went with the Grannies, a Bay-area band we shared the stage with at SXSW last year...and of whom, their guitarist Sluggo is old friends with Jeff.
At first, I thought I would run down my impressions of the European tour here, but it's been a month already. I still might.....but well, you know, hindsight and all.... The tour was a lot of fun though, and I hope we return relatively soon.
Okay, that's an overview. I probably have movies to write about, too. Again, I need a bit to figure out what to post next and go from there. Until then.....
